THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE
Dunnville Christian School aims to nurture the whole child for the glory of God. From faith-shaping chapel services and fun spirit days, to sports teams and service projects, students are challenged to learn and experience what it means to serve God and others at any age!
Staff and students gather weekly to worship and learn about the yearly theme. Groups of 8-10 students from every grade are formed, called “Chapel Families,” with whom they participate in various activities throughout the year. Led by Grade 7/8 students, these groups build leadership and community.
SPIRIT DAYS/HOT LUNCH
From October-April, staff and students participate in fun dress up days such as Western Day or Pajama Day. Student Council coordinates these to build school spirit and unity. Hot lunches of pizza or hot dogs coincide with Spirit Days. The May hot lunch coincides with Field Day and includes pizza and ice cream. An order form is sent home at the beginning of the school year.
Grades 4-8 are required to wear a DCS gym T-shirt for Phys. Ed. These can be purchased at the school office ($15 new/$5 used, while supplies last). A gym bag will be given to Grade 4 students.
DCS promotes physical fitness. The entire school body runs daily (grounds/weather permitting) at a grade appropriate level. During inclement weather, students participate in indoor physical activities.
DCS challenges students intellectually through participation in various fairs, contests, competitions and clubs that encourage students to use their critical thinking skills, conduct research, and share their knowledge with their peers and the greater community. These opportunities include:
At DCS, there are various athletic events students participate in. We promote healthy competition and sign up for different sports tournaments to give our students the chance to demonstrate their skills and abilities outside of our school.
Sports we participate in include:
Students at all grade levels are encouraged to think about how we can care for our greater community with the love of Christ. DCS has supported and/or partnered with many wonderful organizations including:
Out-of-classroom activities enhances our teaching programs. Your child’s teacher will communicate with you as to when these will happen. Permission forms are signed annually in September.
Private music lessons are available for parents to sign up their child if they wish. Arrangements and payments are made directly with the piano teachers.
To raise money for the Grade 7 and 8 trips, students have opportunities throughout the year to sell items like chocolate bars, Little Caesar’s Pizza Kits, Big Box of Cards, Krispy Kreme Donuts and more. Parents and students are encouraged to get creative with fundraising ideas to offset trip costs.
